*** MESSAGE FROM NHS WIGAN BOROUGH CCG ON THE COVID 19 VACCINATION PROGRAMME ***
The Government have asked all GP Practices to get ready to deliver a Covid-19 vaccination programme. We don't currently know when a Covid-19 vaccination will be available. Your GP Practice is working hard with us and local GP Practices to make sure that they are ready to offer the vaccine when it is available.
It is likely that, like the flu vaccination, the most vulnerable people will be offered the vaccination first, with larger numbers of people being offered the vaccine later in the New Year when we expect more vaccines to be available.
We can assure you that in the Borough we will follow the clinical guidance from the Department of Health and Social Care and the Joint Committee of Immunisation and Vaccination on the prioritised people eligible for Covid-19 vaccination.
Different vaccines are currently in clinical trials with each vaccine having different practical requirements for delivery. Our plans will be finalised when we know when and what vaccines will be approved and available for us to use.
At the moment we don't have any further details and can't give you any information on when you will be able to book a COVID-19 vaccination, so please do not ring your GP Practice for details about the vaccine. When we are able to take booking, details will be on our website, your practice website and in the local paper.
In the meantime, we are encouraging people to have their flu vaccination as soon as possible as you may need a short gap between your flu vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination. As well as protecting yourself against the flu virus, you are also protecting your family and friends.
****THANK YOU ***
In March 2020, the Government asked everyone in the UK to change the ways in which we go about our daily activities. New rules about where we can go, when we can leave the house, and who we can see have left many of us wondering what our rights are in the time of Covid-19.
Many of us have questioned what we can expect during this time of change. Can we still get the healthcare and support we need? What should we do if we are worried, concerned or in danger?
To answer some of these questions, LGBT Foundation is launching the Essential Guide to LGBT Rights and Covid-19. We understand that everyone has different experiences and needs. However, this guide intends to support LGBT people in understanding situations they may face and being able to make informed choices that are right for them.
Some of the questions answered in the guide include:
- Can I access sexual health testing?
- Can I get my medication?
- Can I receive my hormones?
- Where can I get help if I experience a hate crime?
- Where can I get information about my Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) appointment?
- What if I am a disabled person?
We would really appreciate your support in sharing this vital resource with as many people as possible. Out hope is that every single LGBT person knows their rights and is able to access the support they need. It is important that our communities are empowered with the information they need during the pandemic.
